CORONAGRAPH PUZZLES / 01—08
Hide the light.
Find a world.
Bright stars drown out distant planets. Place your dark masks over every star, keep every planet clear, then take the exposure.

OBSERVATION 01
First light
SELECT A MASK
Move your mask from the dock into the star field.
Make a little eclipse
Drag a numbered mask from the lower dock. Cover the full bright core of each star. One mask can hide a cluster.
Leave room for discovery
The planet’s dotted halo must stay outside every mask. Blue means clear; coral means something is hidden.
Take your best shot
Try for three marks: solve within the adjustment target, without a guide. No timer. Reset and replay freely.
Controls, credits & the idea behind Umbra
Mouse or touch: drag a mask, or select a numbered mask and tap the field. Keyboard: select a mask with 1–3, then use arrows (10 units); Shift + arrows moves 2 units. Enter takes an exposure. Each drag, tap, or arrow press counts as one adjustment. Guide shows where the selected mask can work, and costs one discovery mark. Progress saves only in this browser when storage is available.
Original geometric puzzle inspired by Roman’s 2026 coronagraph commissioning. Real coronagraphs use precise optical masks and wavefront control; this game is a playful geometric analogy, not a diffraction simulation. NASA mission update.
